The concepts in this course are very useful. I'd recommend it to Latin American Studies, Spanish, Econ, and Commerce majors in particular. The problem for me is that Opere (also my major advisor) is pretty disorganized. He stopped following his (outdated) syllabus pretty early on in the semester. Expect him to assign some unexpected readings via email. He will call on you in class and the class is small, so if you are too shy about talking in Spanish, probably avoid this one, though the experience will help you improve.

The final word: I recommend SPAN 3040, but take it with another professor if you can.

The textbook is crazy expensive for how little he follows the material from it but it is required, so buy it cheap from a friend or rent online from Barnes and Noble to save a lot of money.

A very useful class. One in-class presentation, and lots of discussion, but not very difficult.
