Professor Mendoza has been one of my favorite professors at UVA so far! I took this class virtually over the summer and I had a really positive experience--there were readings (very interesting btw), 3 main composition papers (60%) with peer review and instructor comments, grammatical homework (20%), and an oral presentation (10%)--the other 10% is just participation in class. Professor Mendoza made learning Spanish stress-free and fun and I also liked how he incorporated some work of his own (research papers, etc.) to share the career paths that Spanish could lead to, if that is something you are interested in. If you are contemplating taking this course over the summer as a prospective Spanish major or minor, definitely take this class with Mendoza!
