I loved this class! RJ is a Deaf woman (but don't worry there are really helpful and effective interpreters the whole way), which makes her perspective on the content extremely relevant and often she would go into anecdotes about her experience growing up Deaf and as a girl, which really added to the class. She can be a bit sassy and blunt sometimes, but that's just her personality! If you show interest in the class, complete assignments on time, and participate, you'll do great. I always skimmed the readings 30 minutes before class and got an A. There were longer books/chapters to read but she gives you a schedule and lots of time to prepare for book discussions so if you budget your time, you'll do great. I'm not great at managing my time, so when we had to read a whole book, I would always end up reading it like two days before, but it didn't matter because I would whizz through it since it was so interesting and typically just a Deaf woman talking about her life. RJ also cancelled class like atleast once a month, and we got out early like every other week. She also brought in a couple of Deaf presenters to share their experience which was great because you got to see a bunch of different perspectives and learn how the Deaf community is not a monolith. Final project was a "multimedia project" about your book so she gives lots of flexibility. Would recommend this to everyone regardless of what you're majoring or minoring in! #tCF2020
