Very enjoyable class, very difficult language. Professor is a native Russian and explains grammar extremely well.

Prof. Travisano zips thru complicated material and expects you to know it, forever, after one week. This might be ok if you have a TA that drills you, but my TA sucked. The book is unhelpful. If you really want to learn Russian you'll survive, but make it your top priority. Prof.'s poor English makes learning difficult.

Class is fairly interesting, however I learned everything from my TA. Seth King is phenomenal

I've never had so much trouble with a class. Maybe if I'd taken it as a first year with a lighter load, but doing well in this class would have required me to devote no time to my other classes. Speaking another language I thought it wouldn't be too bad...my suggestion, know the alphabet backwards and forwards before you start the class so you're at least a little ahead of the game

The language is difficult, but Professor Travisano is the sweetest and most helpful teacher you could ask for.

The class is kind of hard relative to other first-year languages, but it gets super super hard if you miss lecture. It is a very useful language to know though! the Professor is amaaaaazing and she's super nice. My TA was pretty chill and made the discussion (at 10AM!) really fun.

Good professor, great TA. Makes Russian accessible to students. HW every night, though.

I have a Russian background so came in familiar with the language. However, I did not know how to read or write and I wasn't great with grammar. The class requires homework every night and there are tests after each chapter. However, Lillia to this day is the nicest and most caring professor I have ever had. She truly wants all her students to do well and is open to help you during her office hours or by appointment. I would definitely recommend it to those interested in the language and to take Lillia. Ended the 4-credit class with an A which really helped my GPA :)
