Lecture is exceedingly dull, but you get a note sheet on the test which makes them very easy. Lab is a pain, and more time-consuming than it needs to be, but the papers are easy and graded easily. You don't need to open your textbook, as everything you need to know for the tests Freeman goes over in class. Basically just go to class, take notes, put them on your note sheet, and you should get A's on the exams.

8am. Dullest lecture ever. He talks so slowly yet seems to graze over important information. Lab is fun because the TAs empathize with you. Luckily you get a note sheet for each exam, and he posts previous exams to collab. Office hours are not helpful. He is kind of rude about it. I got a B, but I would never recommend this class to anyone. Ever.

I took this course in Spring 2010. There is no reason anyone should take this class unless they are a psych major/minor. Freeman is really boring, and if I hadn't taken 3005 with Mikami and AP Stat in high school, I doubt I would have understood the material. The midterms were fair, but the final was nothing like the previous 3 finals he had given us as study materials, so that threw me for a loop. What really makes 3006 hard is the lab, since there's a ton of statistical paper writing and group work. By far the worst class I've taken in terms of workload and boring subject matter.

If you're one of the many psych majors who can't do math to save their lives, this class will be torture for you. Otherwise it's really not that bad. I actually found the lab to be the harder part; it seems the TA's are told to be harsh graders as a way of being fair across sections.

Lecture is the absolute worst. Freeman isn't a bad guy- he's clearly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject, but really isn't the best at teaching. He is often very lazy when it comes to giving (or not giving) example problems. Plus, he will delete crucial information from the powerpoints, so downloading them to go over the examples from class is literally impossible unless you handwrote or typed everything on the slides. I understand him wanting to have people attend lecture, but that's what iClickers are for! as others have said, tests are quite difficult in that they ask you things that require an extensive knowledge of stats, beyond the simple step-by-step process of doing problems like in lecture. Clearly, a handful of people who were good at stats prior to this class excel and moderate what's still a ridiculous curve, but the majority of the class is clearly in the dark often. I will say that he labs aren't bad- my group project was pretty boring but that's really our own fault. You can make it interesting if you want to. 3005 really does prepare you well for writing the papers. Grading from the TA was a bit harsh but compared to lecture, the labs were a relief

Very hard class if you're not good with math and statistics. Tests do not look like problems from class and the labs are miserable

I don't know why people complain about Prof. Freeman- his lectures are hilarious and his exams are very straight forward. He teaches you exactly what you need to know. Interestingly enough, it was the research methods part, which you would think would be easy, that gave me the most trouble. Those note sheets were a life saver though! And contrary to popular opinion, Prof Freeman is actually very approachable. I'm actually going to miss his class...

And lab was totally doable- everything builds on itself for the final project. Although I imagine that waiting until the last minute to write a whole paper would be disastrous. Just stay on top of things and you'll be set.

Worst class ever. Grading is ridiculous and tests are so hard that there is a 30 point curve
