Professor Wilson is a decent lecturer, but he does not know how to control the class very well. The class would often start packing up before he finished talking and it was rather distracting. That said, it was an alright course although it was easier and more boring than I had expected it to be. A lot of the material covered is gone over in PSYC1010 or common sense.
Fantastic class! Wilson might not have the most dramatic voice, but he is entertaining and smart. He knows his stuff, and you will learn social psychology very-well.
The three tests are a breeze if you review the lecture notes and book, and the papers are graded ridiculously easily. Great elective to take!
I loved this psyc course. It's not difficult at all as long as you pay attention in class and maybe do some light reading. Last semester we were able to take our tests online through Collab, starting anywhere and anytime between 9am and midnight the day of the test. This was super convenient. Don't be tempted to cheat! It'd probably slow you down to go through your notes/textbook with 75 minutes on the clock anyway. Take this class if you're interested in psychology, and even if you're not!!
Wilson is great. I love psychology, but even if you don't it's a very interesting class. I kind of feel like Professor Wilson's voice sounds a bit like a Sesame Street character, but you get used to it and it doesn't detract from what a good teacher he is. He wrote the textbook that's used in class, but it's not for profit- he donates all his royalties to a charity of the students' choice. It's a good book written in a conversational tone that's easy to get into. Go to lectures- they're based on the book, but he adds other information to it and doesn't just follow it blindly. Even if you're not interested in learning the additional material, class is often funny- Wilson makes jokes often and makes a point of having videos to show the class every day from Candid Camera (kind of the original Punk'd) to commercials to TV shows to everything in between. Wilson doesn't assign too much work, but be careful of his essays- they're very, very specific on tiny details and formatting, and they'll get you for mistakes. Highly recommended class, great professor and interesting material- very enjoyable overall.
