Bennett is sort of flakey and the assignments are pretty vague, but it IS an art class after all... that having been said, Bennett really knows what he is talking about. Ed is super helpful and both are very knowledgeable. I had never taken a sculpture class until this one and I am definitely going to take a class with Bennett again. lots of fun!
Interesting class, get to try different methods of sculpture as well as different mediums (clay, plaster, bronze casting, wax, etc) BUT the professor can be frustrating sometimes. Does in-class demonstrations or lectures that waste precious work time and instead makes you come outside of class for work that could've been finished in-class otherwise. Not too intensive of a class though in terms of work.
Professor is interesting, demands a lot of community service work outside of class (helping out with shows, castings etc.). Do it and show up to class, you're guaranteed a good grade. The projects are awesome, you get to work with a lot of different material. Don't take it lightly because this is a studio art course which demands time commitment for finishing a project. Can be disorganized and confusing, so make sure you speak to the professor. He also talks a lot, taking time away from doing the actual work. Bennett is super passionate about sculpture. Through the class you end up learning a lot of "practical" knowledge (how to use certain tools and create functional stuff) and develop an appreciation for hand made things. Loved the class. Recommend it. It's also super cheap in comparison to other courses.
