PLCP 5350

This was one of the most difficult courses I have taken at the University in my four years. He expects you to really know the readings and even expects you to know outside information on the topics that are discussed. Although the course is tough, he's a very giving grader, at least as far as the exam goes. Lectures are kind of boring.

I had never taken a PLCP before and this was basically awful. The class is a midterm and a 20-25 page paper. The midterm emphasized random theories we really never talked about (so I did poorly not having taken a PLCP before) and then I thought I did well on the paper but ended up with a B-. The work is easy, occasionally you have to read and present in class but the actual course is incredibly boring just sitting and listening to him talk for 2.5 hours. Bring your laptop.

You really only need to do the pre-midterm reading, and then the post-midterm readings dealing with your paper topic. Jordan is a pretty easy grader, but if you haven't taken modern political theory the class will be a challenge.
