This course wasn't very upbeat. While Stacie has a very mellow voice, the information can be very interesting, especially if you do the readings. There aren't very many readings, and they aren't completely necessary for in-class discussion, but they are good for papers. There are weekly synopsis's, which is based off of whatever prompt or question she comes up with for that particular week. The only con is that the professor is not very specific when it comes to papers, so that can go either way depending on what kind of writer you are, but she is the easiest grader I've ever had. Easy A!
This review is for Ethics of Computing. Professor Thyrion is arguably the nicest professor you'll ever have. She also made this class aggressively easy, two take-home exams and easy participation points. That doesn't mean the class is lacking in substance, though. The class covers a lot of interesting topics like privacy, free speech, intellectual property, and the future of work. She really values class discussion and she really values your input no matter what you say. She makes the material easy to understand and lays out the arguments clearly, which I appreciated especially while studying for exams. I highly recommend this class and Professor Thyrion in general.
