Very interesting class, but I would seriously consider taking it pass/fail.

Are you serious? Take a class where NOBODY gets an A (see distribution)? Yeah, you should do it. It's one of the best classes at UVA. Pretty much problem solving and logic games. 3 take home, untimed, open book tests and an in class, closed book, timed final. You won't get an A, but it's a great class.
Cargile is fantastic and I loved this class. It is challenging, but you'll get what you put in. He has tons of office hours and is always willing to help.
Best class I've had so far. Interesting material with lots of interesting anecdotes in between. Professor Cargile is energetic, entertaining, and easy to get along with, and he knows the material very well.
Best professor ever. Holds office hours 10 hours a week--just walk in and ask him questions. Remarkably patient, can be intimidating at first, but really very easy to talk to. Genuinely enjoys talking to students and helping them learn the material. Good sense of humor, too. He's the type of professor all other professors should aspire to be.
Reading load is light, but dense at times. Most of your success will depend on your ability to think, not just read the material and parrot it back to him. Homework is optional, but if you want to master the material, do it and have him look over it.
Good class, great professor. He can be tricky on tests, but he knows his stuff and he really cares about his students. Definitely a good class to take for anyone interested in logic.
Cargile is awesome. He knows his stuff and he's a great teacher. My favorite professor so far at UVA
This class is fairly difficult for most people. If you don't like participating in class or group work, this is not a good choice. It's very useful for learning how to argue and how to recognize the arguments of others.
