There are three tests and no cumulative final. The tests are comparative IDs. You really don't need to read at all, you just need to come to class every day and take really detailed notes! It's extremely interesting material and Professor Purvis is a great lecturer.

Betsy is super nice but this class is impossible for no reason. I am an art history major and could NOT tackle this material. The questions that she asked on the exam were completely irrational and obscure. I studied more for this class than anything else that semester and still could not succeed. DO NOT TAKE.
Betsy was an awesome professor and the class was really interesting. She focuses more on how the art fit into society and the differences in values for each region and time period. The tests are 5 comparative short answer questions based on two pieces from the unit, and the final has an added essay portion. As long as you study the pieces and take detailed notes (there are little to no words on slides, but she does record lectures and posts them!) you should be fine since the ID portion of the tests is relatively small.
