University Singers is awesome. If you are at all interested in singing with a big choir, having a beautiful sound, growing as a musician, learning a variety of repertoires, and learning under a great instructor, you should definitely audition for Usingers. The best part I think about this class is that it's not just a class- it's a family. It's not just an academic class, but it's an ensemble with social events, tours, fundraising, and other cool components! The rehearsals are twice a week in OCH FROM 3:30-5:30 and Slon is a stickler on time. While the rehearsal times do seem long, they go by pretty quickly because Slon is pretty good at getting people to double down and focus on the music. Usingers also has several concerts at UVA and performs for a handful of other UVA events like Convocation, football games, or lighting of the Lawn, which is fun. Best advice for this class is: enjoy the sound you make as a choir, trust your director, practice your music, and get involved!

Easy, fun, not much work. There are time-consuming phases (dress rehearsals, concerts, smaller side gigs), but otherwise not bad at all.
You sing! Practice is 4 hours a week from 3:30pm to 5:30pm which can get a little old, but you gotta practice. Sloan knows a ton about music and is an excellent choir director, he has a quirky sense of humor too! Respect the process, respect Sloan and everyone else, and sing. It's that simple.
If you are good at singing and appreciate classical music, audition for USingers. It's a free 2-credit A, but it's kind of time consuming.
