Since I'm in drumline, my experience with Koch as a director is a bit more limited than a wind player's would be, so this will be more of a review of the class itself rather than of Koch. Koch is a pretty good director and is quite approachable, but as far as this year Pease really ran the show for most of the season. Drumline is a lot more work than other sections - we have extra sectionals during game weeks and are expected to learn music much faster than the rest of the band. Depending on your specific part of drumline, your enjoyment of it may vary - bass drums take heavier criticism from directors than other subsections in spite of being individually easier due to the parts being more exposed, so be aware of that ahead of time if you play bass. Drumline-specific staff is quite knowledgeable and approachable but seems to favor snares and quads somewhat during rehearsal.
