This class takes a lot of time and effort. There were 3 web homeworks, 1 written homework, and 1 quiz every single week. The material itself is not hard to understand, but the questions asked in the HWs, quizzes and exams really your understanding of the concepts. Essentially, it isn't sufficient to memorize the formula and apply it in the exams. This Calculus class requires you to recognize recurring patterns from different topics and apply them in a single setting/question.
Scott himself isn't too good a lecturer. He mumbles often and the topics he explains are often disjointed. Do yourself a favor and pre-read the textbook to gain better understanding of the material before coming to class. Nonetheless, his explanations become clearer by almost tenfold when you attend his office hours, so I recommend you do that. I get the feeling that he is uncomfortable in large class situations with many eyes scrutinizing on him.
