I loved Jim and applied calc 1. Many people complained about their professor, but I thought Jim was great. Class sometimes got boring though and I never paid attention. I took this course in high school, so the information did come more easily to me, but he also taught the information in a way that was easier to understand. I'll give a 3 for difficulty just because some people found it a bit trickier. Many people in the class had taken some form of calculus before, but our class usually had an average higher than the average of the 600 students who take applied calc 1. He really wants everyone to do well, as you can get a 110% on all the online webassign homework. He also drops your lowest homework and your lowest quiz. There are only a few quizzes, and homework counts more than quizzes, anyway, so it's easy to get all the homework points. He's always available for extra help. Also, tests usually had some difficult questions, so make sure you know how to do the easier topics so that you can guarantee points from that. Always do the practice tests, and to study don't focus on homework questions that required a calculator. Def recommend!

Kind of an awkward guy and can come off kind of judgemental, but he's a pretty good teacher. I took calculus before so it wasn't hard for me but he emphasizes that he is available during office hours every class. Would recommend.
