If you're taking Latin for your language requirement or for your major, take it with Mr. Zehner! He is a good teacher as he takes time to make sure people in the class understand a concept when asking a question. He truly wants to make sure everyone understands the Latin if it is unclear. As for the class itself, it is somewhat tedious as nearly all of class time is spent translating Latin--which I found to be generally boring. I found that I needed to prepare the translations before each class and make corrections as we went along, which helped a lot when studying for quizzes. The speed of the class isn't anything impossible to deal with, but it is very important to keep up, and there really aren't any periods of little-to-no work. Mr. Zehner is a very fair grader and a good teacher of Latin. I had him for both 2010 and 2020 and did well in both, and I give a fair amount of credit to Mr. Zehner for making my UVa Latin experience positive.
