Very effective professor, love her teaching style. I would recommend JAPN 3010 with Marshall Sensei if you would like to improve your Japanese skills!

This class emphasizes written and spoken communication in Japanese, double emphasis on "communication." Your Japanese will improve immensely through this class, but you shouldn't take it unless you are very motivated in studying Japanese. The main complaint about this class is how work-heavy it is. Marshall is a motivated teacher who genuinely cares about her students (especially if you go into office hours, where she is super helpful and understanding), but has very high expectations. Expect a consistently large amount of homework, especially when the end of a unit comes around. Grade weighting is based on skills (reading, writing, speaking, etc.) and participation/attendance is SUPER important. Don't even THINK about skipping if you care about your grade.
