This is by far the worst studio I have ever had at Aschool. There had been several Spanish professors joining with limited English skills, which is totally fine. All the Spanish professors, led by the coordinator Ines, held different points of views from the American professors in methods of teaching, which is also totally fine and even exciting. However, the coordinator showed no intent in forming a cohesive learning experience and kind of just let us do "work" as we go, leaving us bewildered at most things they mentioned in lectures and personal deskcrits, which the professors did not come to agreement in the end. As far as I observed during the final review, most external professors did not see coherency in most of our project (at least in my section), which indicates the possible problems in teaching. The worst part is the Spanish professor in my session who showed apparent preference to Spanish-speaking students: I only get 5 minutes of deskcrits most of the time while my professor would speak with THESE kids in Spanish for over an hour all the time, which is unprofessional enough. Working hours are long and I saw no meanings of the course other than sitting in your desk suffering. I hope the department would consider fostering a more inclusive and progressive way of teaching: we are not architects yet and deserve more attentions.
