It is a Discussion-based class, so pre-reading is a must. The format is that the professor introduces a discussion question based on the reading, and then the class openly talks/debates the issue and any follow-up topics that are mentioned in the dialogue. We also have small-group discussions/activities.

You will need to be open and talk to strangers (outside the class.) I needed to interview someone who I disagree with politically and participate in a Can We Talk and a One Small Step event.
The workload is not bad and only meets once a week. The work mostly comprises completing online modules, reflecting on course activities, doing a case study, and an 800-word final essay. The grading is not harsh. As long as you put effort and thought into your writing, you should do well in the course. We did have an extra-credit opportunity, which was nice.

The professor is helpful and cares about your experience and how she can improve the class.
