I really enjoyed this course. Professor Halliday is one of the most knowledgable and kind professors I've had at UVA. You can tell that he cares about each of his students individually. I appreciated his random life anecdotes as much as I did learning about British criminal history. He somehow managed to make the 2.5 hours every week bearable! I felt that the small class size really enhanced the course, and I got to know my classmates' personalities, strengths, and weaknesses very well. For an introductory level course, I felt that the amount of reading assigned was on the heavier side, but it was by no means unreasonable, and I did feel that all of it was relevant to our discussion. The weekly writing exercises were tedious, but I also felt that they were worthwhile and increased my ability to write and communicate effectively.
