Honestly if you're just trying to fill psych credits I would try another class. I thought the subject matter would be pretty interesting but it was really boring. Shige seems like a nice guy but is a dry lecturer, maybe this would be different in person. He was not very accommodating with giving students notes and powerpoints outside of class, and grading took a pretty long time.

I took this class over zoom this semester because Shige couldn't get a big enough room for an in-person class, but it was still fun. The class is pretty easy, so as long as you pay attention in class, review your notes, and read the chapter summaries in the textbook, you should be fine. Your grade is two non-cumulative midterms which are each 20%, two in class essays which are each 10%, and a cumulative final which is 40%. The exams are all multiple choice and open note. You don't get much information about what the essays will be about, but that's okay because you're not expected to prepare anything beforehand. The biggest complaint most people had was that Shige doesn't upload his powerpoint slides and he never explained why. He did try to accommodate students in other ways, like buying a microphone to fix audio problems and emailing us the most note-intensive slides. Shige has a good sense of humor and he's a great professor. This class will be easier if you've taken intro psych, but it isn't too difficult either way.
