This was honestly one of the easier classes I’ve taken, but in a good way. It didn’t feel like busywork, and I actually walked away with some really useful skills. Super manageable and worth it. Thanks

If you're interested in becoming a HoosConnected facilitator, this is the class for you. For the first half of the class, you are put into small groups with other facilitators-in-training and get the full HoosConnected experience led by a grad student. After that, in the second-half, Alison will guide you through the concepts that drive the activities and group bonding in HoosConnected groups for the second half of the semester. Grading is based off a couple assignments throughout the semester that are pretty straightforward and are mostly reflection based rather than knowledge based. Although participation isn't a grade, it's expected (especially in the first half when you're supposed to be bonding with your small group!). The class isn't difficult in information but rather actually practicing being a group facilitator (which also gets easier over time). Alison is such a fun person to learn from and will really make sure if you're understanding the concepts or not. She is very welcoming and is open to help you during office hours or during class.

For some reason this wouldn't let me post with the correct semester, but I took this class in the fall of 2020. What can I say, Alison is not only one of the best professors I've ever had, but she's also one of the nicest. I had to interview to get into this class, but they were so nice and immediately told me I was in at the end of the interview. We had like four super easy graded assignments in like the entire class, so there was very little stress. If you are interested, I would highly recommend this class.
