I had Tom as my TA for the Ancient Greece class, and he made it SO much better! I'm not a history major and I found a lot of the material to be confusing and nonsensical (especially the readings from Thucydides and Herodotus), but Tom was always available and more than happy to help explain things in a way that ACTUALLY makes sense. He also provided clear and concise feedback on the two papers we wrote during the semester, and gave a lot of little study hacks that made the final exam much more manageable. He also gives really good examples of how to efficiently and effectively write the IDs, which make up ~1/4 of the exams. For each discussion section you were assigned to read part of a historical source (i.e Hesiod's Works and Days, the Iliad, etc) which was time consuming, but Tom gave great explanations and the discussions we had were informative and you could participate if you just skimmed the material. I would absolutely recommend him if his discussion section fits into your schedule; he really made a difference in my experience with the class!
