I loved this class. Professor Hurley is super helpful if you come to office hours, provides very detailed comments on papers and discussion posts, and structures the class in such a way that discussions were always engaging and dynamic. If you're just looking to fulfill a second writing req, there are definitely easier classes out there, but if you're an English major or like a little challenge, this class was great!

Professor Hurley clearly knows a lot about this subject and teaches it effectively. The discussions in class were great. HOWEVER. She is a very tough grader and this class does require a good amount of effort. You have to read a lot to keep up with the Discussion Posts/In-Class quizzes. If you are worried about your GPA or ability to write within her very specific personal standards, I would take a different class. I stayed in this one because the discussions were good and so were the readings, but looking back, it was not worth the stress. There are too many great options at the 3000 level to risk disappointment.
