Honestly, amazing course - great professor, so engaging even as someone who doesn't study religion. Not gonna lie, it's sooo much reading, but honestly he breaks it down so well during class that if you don't really understand it when you read it, you'll still come out of the class an expert on that text. You'll definitely know by going to the first couple classes before the drop date if it's for you, so I highly recommend trying it out if you're unsure. And he fed us chocolate every class (and dates during ramadan!)

Only 2 assignments, write a commentary on a popular love song, and then final project of write your own poem/song in Sufi style. Very fun assignments honestly. The rest is participation. Awesome class, came in knowing very little about Sufism and Islam as a whole but gained a lot of perspective both in personal philosophy and cultural knowledge.
