If you come from an Econ background, the topics discussed in this course are very easy and understandable. Personally, I was a little disappointed in this course as the sustainable economics are only covered after Thanksgiving, the majority of the content is the basic micro model and natural resources. My biggest gripe with this course and Prof. Shobe is the constant lack of administrative prowess. There always seems to be some type of issue with exams or deadlines he tells the class. He also tells you he is "keeping textbook costs low'' but then wants you to buy $150+ of textbooks. During the first few weeks Prof. Shobe will convince you that the readings are necessary but they are not... so DO NOT buy the textbooks. Anything from the readings that are important will be reviewed in class and will have Canvas PDFs. You do have to buy one $29 resource to turn work in, it is a complete waste of money but necessary. Other administrative issues include but are no limited too grades never being correct, Prof. Shobe not caring about grades and a lack of communication about course expectations. If you take this class, expect an administrative disaster class.
