If you want to actually learn probability do NOT take this class with Tonghao. He is probably the worst lecturer I've had at UVA. He does not seem to know the material well enough to be teaching it. He frequently backtracks after starting examples only to realize that he made an error. There was a perpetual sense of "WTF" among students, because his explanations would leave most of us confused. I stopped going to class altogether because the textbook did a better job of explaining the material. As far as difficulty, it's definitely possible to get a decent grade without doing that much work. There's weekly homework from the text book which should be grade boosters if you take time to get them right (drop 2 lowest), two midterms, and a final. The tests have questions that are straight from the practice exams and homework.
The professor is terrible and the lecture is always incredibly disorganized. He makes frequent mistakes and is evidently not prepared for class. He doesn't correct mistakes until a student points it out. He writes notes on the board and it's very light and small and very hard to read overall. Notes are often erased and re-written. He uploads lecture notes online but they're 100% different from the ones in class so they're really not helpful at all. Most of the time, people rarely come to class. You can do well by reading the textbook and frankly the material makes more sense that way. There is only one homework assignment due every week so the workload is low, however, all the information is basically self-taught. There are two midterms and a final. He gives out practice exams for all of them.
tl;dr: would not recommend this course if you don't need it for a major, not too hard but self-taught
