This course was very entertaining and a great way to satisfy either your writing requirements or a gen-ed class (or as an English course for English majors too). The books are all entertaining and they exposed me to a variety of authors I would not otherwise have known. The classes are mostly discussion based, with the professor posing a question and the class talking about it (at least in theory). Oftentimes there were the same 4 people who talked to eachother while the rest of the class stayed silent. The professor tried a few techniques to get people to talk, but at times the discussions were a bit stale, at no fault of the course structure or the professor. If you enroll in this course, please actively talk in class it makes it so much more enjoyable.

Throughout the semester, you will be given several writing assignments, starting from simple 1 page (double spaced) papers to full length 6 page essays. He gives feedback on them, but it is not the most comprehensive. Despite this, it is still a good environment to practice your writing, although he will not teach you how to write from the ground up. You will need to have good writing skills for this class, or you will struggle with your grade. In all, it was an enjoyable course to serve as my writing requirement, and the professor is very friendly and kind.
