I feel that Pettit did alright for his first semester teaching this class. The class is really interesting, and I think that the structure of the labs and the course is pretty good. The final is also really fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed the CTF challenge, which is what the final is. I would recommend this class if you are interested in cybersecurity, but I will say that Pettit's lectures can at times seem boring. He goes at a solid pace, but the slides do not contain a lot of the information that is necessary for the quizzes and the exams. I would say that Pettit is an alright teacher, but sometimes it is hard to stay focused and not zone out. I would recommend trying the other instructors.
Extremely chill class but actually pretty fun. Lectures generally were pretty "fun". Since the class' structure doesn't put too much emphasis on coding/exams, lectures felt pretty relaxed and overall the learning part of it was more so like just a commentary and if you found it interesting, then great. The class consists of a few in class exams, which were open note (hard to get a 100) though, and a bunch of take home labs which were on par with what you were learning in class. For the labs, I'd say most of what you are doing is stuff you'll pretty much have to look up. Like I said about lecture, I'd say each one just felt like a Youtube audio commentaries which at times can get pretty interesting. But as I said most of the labs, you just have to troubleshoot yourself online and the final project which was a CTF (capture the flag) was actually pretty fun. Each lab and flag is essentially you doing "hacking" and exploiting/finding hidden information and overall I had a pretty fun time for this class. Would 100% recommend.
