The course is boring but some topics are pretty interesting and applicable to what you might do in industry. I wouldn't recommend taking this course unless you have to. You have weekly assignments to do with a partner, so it is not much work. You have weekly quizzes which are fairly straightforward. The exams are also not too bad.
Upsorn is a great professor who always does her best to engage and interact with her students. Software Testing is not the most interesting concept/subject, but Upsorn always tries to make her lectures interesting. The class itself is pretty easy. You have weekly activities that you can work with partners on, and she usually goes over the answers or does questions that are identical to the assignment during class. The homework assignments are doable as well; sometimes they're graded harshly, but there's a lot of buffer grades. There's also a final project that you can work with a partner on, & you choose what you guys do on the project. Overall, the class itself is not that interesting simply due to the topic of software testing, but Upsorn is a great person and great professor! #tCFSpring2021
I thought this course was very interesting and applicable to projects I have worked on in past internships--you definitely learn a lot. There are daily/weekly short-assignments that are fairly easy (as long as you show up to class you'll get a 100). The HWs can be challenging, but if you follow the PowerPoints it's not too bad. Professor Upsorn is also just an amazing Professor. She is super caring and really wants her students to succeed.
Upsorn is a very nice person and was super enthusiastic given the nature of the online semester. However, the material itself is very dull so be prepared to fight to go to sleep. The daily worksheets and homework assignments were very simplistic and doable. The final was a bit longer than I expected which was annoying. I would only take this class if you want to have an easy CS elective but if not I would recommend taking another CS elective that's more interesting.
Decent course. Nice professor. The work actually isn't too much. My recommendations are to find a partner to work with, don't try to do things alone as it can be more time consuming and really having someone to work with makes the material more engaging. Also, her late policy is very strict, and late penalties are pretty hefty (25% off first day late, 50% off second day). Some assignments are explicitly no extension. So with that being said, really make getting the work done early for this class a priority so you can get the best grades possible.
Prof Upsorn is so sweet and nice. With that being said, the course is not as easy as an A as some may say, but is definitely easier than some of the other CS electives. There are HWs that are based on a lot of the in-class assignments, which are sometimes harder than you might think. But the in-class assignments are insanely easy, especially because they are mostly just for completion. There is a final project that is worth quite a lot and can take a lot of time depending on what you do, but if you do the paper, I feel like they grade it leniently. Overall, not a bad class to take for a CS elective. #tCFspring2022
This class is a great class to take if you are looking for an easy elective!
The grade breakdown for this class is: 15% quizzes, 15% practice of the day, 45% homework, and 25% final exam. The practice of the days are easy and are done during class, so you should definitely come in on those days. The quizzes are super easy if you go to class and study for a couple hours, and the final exam was pretty straightforward, especially since she lets you bring in one sheet of notes. The most time consuming part of this class are the homework assignments, but I don't think any of them took me longer than 2-3 hours (some were even shorter though). All assignments are graded very fairly.
For the homework, you can work with a partner, so I recommend trying to find someone early to do the homework assignments with, or enrolling in this class with a friend. The homework assignments are doable by yourself, but they definitely take so much less time with a partner. #tCFS24
Upsorn is one of my favorite professors in the CS department. She always comes to class with great energy, positivity, and charisma, and always seems prepared and knowledgeable on the class content. Every class we basically go over slides for 20-30 minutes and then do some sort of practice which I think really helps. Sometimes just from slides it can be kind of unclear how to go about applying slide concepts to problems, but once you do practice in class it can help a lot. Content isn't really that hard if you review all slides (which are short) and practice work given, and she always mentions not wanting to "trick" students on quizzes. Her goal is mainly to get you to learn the concepts as they are which I think is pretty fair. There are bi-weekly quizzes that really aren't that hard if you study previous practice and homeworks and everything is straightforward (plus you get corrections). There are also homeworks roughly ever week which can be long (but not necessarily difficult) if you don't partner up with someone. I haven't taken the final yet, but as a long as you consume all the content she gives out and provides, the class is a chill CS elective.
