This class is really just a prereq for the psych major/minor. Professor Morris was evidently a good guy, but his lecturing was dry and didn't expand on the readings well. The readings were actually more interesting than I expected them to be (since it's hypothesis testing etc.), but still not mind-blowing. They took a decent amount of effort to wrap your head around the information—but once you did, the class was easy. There were a few homework assignments that tested our calculative abilities, but they each took about 30 minutes. You had to have done the readings to do them and the tests, but the tests were easy too. Just do the readings and it's an easy A, at least in my experience.

If you take this class, TAKE IT WITH PROFESSOR MORRIS. I know people who took it with other professors and said it was horrible. I loved this class with Professor Morris. It was incredibly low stress, low difficulty, and not much work outside of class. He does take attendance for a grade so you do need to show up to class. Grade was made up of 5 exams that were open note and pretty easy (no computational work on any of them except for one problem on the last one), 4 homework assignments that were not anything different from the examples done in class, and attendance. Professor Morris is very lenient and good about working with students for grade adjustments, help with work, etc. Pay attention to the professor you take this class with, because like I said I have heard rough things about this course when taken with other professors but with Morris I 100% recommend.

This was an interesting class. Morris is not a great lecturer and frequently had outdated slides and would lose his train of thought/get confused during lecture. I recommend reading the textbook and taking extremely detailed notes (and practice the examples given from the book) and just listening during the lectures you don't need to take notes. This threshold for an A is a 95 which is high but his exams are open note and simple and the homeworks you will be prepared for if you practice with the book. Although there was no final and the exams were open note if you are a psychology major I would recommend taking this with another professor if you want a solid foundation of research methods. However, if you just want to have a more surface-level understanding/GPA boost I recommend Morris because not all other professors have open note exams. I still feel as though I learned from this class but I thought I had to do most of it myself because the textbook does a much better job of explaining it than he does. Morris as a professor is extremely understanding and thoughtful (frequently cancelling lecture/ending it early) but extremely hard to contact.

This class was an absolute easy A and Professor Morris is so kind and accommodating. Grades are mostly made up of computational homework assignments and several exams, all of which are open note and generously timed. There is no cumulative final exam, only 5 short midterms which are very straightforward and mostly multiple choice. He was very flexible with grading and understanding with schedule conflicts or multiple missed classes due to illness. Although his lectures were a little hard to follow at times, if you take notes and skim the chapters you should be well off. Definitely take this class with Professor Morris!

This course has been one of my favorites at UVA. I had a lot of background in stats before I came into this class, but I think that it is not necessary for this class. Grade is based on midterm exams, take-home exams, and final..all of which are easy if you know what you are doing overall. The professor is extremely accommodating and always shows that he cares for us, which is greatly appreciated since it can be easy to feel like a number in such a large class. If you need to take this class, take it with Morris. I finished the class with an A+

This class is very easy but pretty much requires you to teach yourself. Morris is a nice guy but he is kinda all over the place with his lectures. With that being said though if you need to take this class I would definitely take it with Morris over a different professor. The class consisted of 3 take home exams that are computational, 3 actual exams that are all multiple choice, and a final. You also have textbook readings almost every week but his exams are based on lecture so you don't really have to read the textbook unless you need more clarification on a unit. I took this class online in fall 2021 so we had a synchronous lecture and an asynchronous lecture every week. Overall the class was fine. It doesn't require much studying in advance before the exam I always studied the night before and ended up with an A+ in the class #tCFfall2021

I took this course online so keep that in mind when reading this review. Professor Morris was a very laid back and nice guy. His lectures were a little boring, but they reflected what was written in the textbook readings directly so they weren't difficult to follow. His exams were super easy and straightforward. We had take-home exams which were where we had to do most of the calculations and the actual exams themselves were usually multiple choice and sometimes had a few fill-in-the-blank questions. I definitely recommend doing the end of chapter questions from the textbook, but mostly focus on the calculation question(s) he goes over in his videos/OHs. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, he's really nice and wants his students to do well in his class. I've been told that many students prefer him over the other RM I professor. We had 3-4 exams along with a final exam. Good luck :)

TAKE THIS CLASS WITH MORRIS!!! It was honestly such a joke class, easy A for sure if you've taken any stat class before. I took AP stat in HS and it was easier than that, especially in the beginning. It's constructed of 6 exams and a final online, but I believe its 4 exams total in person. The exams were easy because so little content was covered in them, and a lot were conceptual based. It was hilarious, like in the first exam he was asking "find the median, mode, and mean" of a set of numbers. He's also pretty good at explaining the concepts well, and when he goes over practice problems it's the exact format that he wants you to do on the exam, and extremely similar questions too. He's kind of hard to come by, has a difficult time answering emails so don't expect a response from him for the most part. Overall he's really nice and approachable, and a good professor. He WANTS his students to do well, and he's chill with everyone getting As on the exams. He knows his stuff. 10/10 would recommend. Also ps, don't buy the textbooks, just get the older versions because they weren't really useful at all, unless you need some background info for stuff you didn't understand #tCFspring2021

This was a great asynchronous course. The lectures were all under an under and we typically only had one per week. There were 3 exams, 3 assessments and a final, all open note, book, etc. The professor was also very nice and helpful in office hours, he told us exactly what to expect. The best professor for the class, especially in COVID times.

This class is a requirement for the psych major and should really only be taken if you have to. Professor Morris is a really nice guy, but I retained very little in this class, so I probably won't be very prepared for psyc3006. The exams are very easy and were open note this semester which was nice. Overall the lectures were all over the place. This is typically a 2 lecture/week course, but instead we were given 1 30-minute asynchronous lecture every week until the last week of the semester where the professor ran out of time for all of the content and released multiple in the last few days of classes. #tCF2020
