A new class this semester, the professor and subject material are fascinating and insightful to me. A main reason that I enjoy it is that I never knew much about Chinese history as it is not a widely discussed topic in high school history. The professor also grew up in China and has been able to show us perspectives in regards to policies and history that only a person who is Chinese would be able to articulate. The differences between the way western world books portray the Chinese and the way Chinese discuss it are very distinct. There even wasn't an ideology of the "China" state until the western world starting calling it that in the 19th/20th century. The class overall brings a new perspective to many things and the professor is a very intelligent, kind person. A decent amount of reading, but well worth what you learn from the material.
