Jospe is the man! He really cares about his students, not only regarding their success in the class, but also in their daily lives as well. He has a strong emphasis on mindfulness, and he begins every session with a meditation session. I found that these were a great way that I could slow things down and remember to prioritize my mental state over all else. In regards to the actual lessons, it is the most low-stress thing ever. He caters the exercises you do to the general skill level of the class, so what you do sort of depends. Regardless, he is extremely supportive no matter what and makes sure you feel comfortable no matter your skill level. Also, aside from practicing, there is no outside work! I cannot recommend this class enough!

Take Intermediate if you liked the beginner class! Basically the same format, just with some newer patterns. Possible to jump in if you didn't take the first class and are a musician, but I would recommend starting with the first class just because in Intermediate he jumps in fast and expects that you know all of the beats already. Super fun and relaxing class with an awesome guy!

Jospé is such a cool guy, super welcoming/encouraging/engaging. Plus he's actually a world-class drummer, and because of this is able to get some amazing musical guests to come to class. Class is very laid-back, you basically meditate, warm up, learn some new beats, and then groove til the end of class. Great stress-reliever and you definitely don't need to be a beast at drums to succeed in the intermediate level. Highly recommend it.
