Reading Literature- 3 Compositions in French about the reading- he gives you topics, 2x weekly discussion posts on the reading- very short, just about 3 sentences that prove you read the passage. Final Paper of ~1500 words on a topic you choose- could be based on the books, or on something else related to this period of history
LOOVVVE this prof. He's hilarious and class with him was very enjoyable. Definitely recommend his class next semester- Spring 2020 is his last semester before he retires. Office hours were helpful and he was prompt with grades

TAKE THIS CLASS! Lyons is gentle, brilliant, and makes older french text highly accessible. Listen closely because though he is soft spoken, what he has to say is beyond illuminating
Professor Lyons really knows his stuff, and the readings we did offered an excellent insight into French culture of the time periods they were written in. The class is easy if you read for class, and that's the only work we had other than four papers. Highly recommended!
The class is challenging, and not everyone likes the literature, but Lyons is a good teacher and he really knows the subject matter well. As long as you keep up on the reading and can write well in French, you'll do very well in this class.
