Professor Labadie is SO sweet and the perfect professor for this class. Because this course essentially combines two classes into one semester, it can be a little overwhelming at times. It meets 5 days a week, and there is homework and notes to do for basically every class. Thus, it's easy to feel a little burnt out from French at times. However, I still felt that this class was very reasonable. Because you spend so much time together, the class and professor all get very close with each other. You are extremely immersed in the French language, so you do learn a LOT. If it's not clear, this class is for people that already have a background in French. I personally took 3 years of French in high school but had been out of the language for 2 years when I started. This class was thus largely review (as it should be) but still really helpful. I found the tests to be very easy and straightforward. Overall, even though it can feel like a lot, 1050 is worth taking rather than taking 2 semesters of 1010 and 1020. It's really important that you do the notes and homework assignments. Talk to Professor Labadie in office hours if you're feeling overwhelmed. She wants you to succeed and will do what she can to help.

Madame Labadie was fantastic. She was very sweet and to-the-point, while still teaching all the material and making things fun. The material itself in 1050 is taught absurdly quickly and it was very difficult for me to decipher it all so fast. If you get lost, it's best to go to office hours and find other explanations of the material. The online homework is a bit too much and I mistakenly let it pile up throughout the semester. Be prepared to work on French stuff for AT LEAST an hour a day, but very likely more, especially near the end of the semester or when there are compositions due.
