This course was great! George cares about all of his students SO much and would go out of his way to help them form connections with people in the Arts Admin field. He brought in engaging guest speakers in a variety of arts positions, the readings provided practical applications of the course content, and the quizzes and assignments were very easy to do well on. I would definitely recommend taking this class!

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this course. Goerge is great, but his lectures tend to be dry and disorganized. However, the guest lectures provide wonderful insight into various industries both in the Non-profit and For-profit realm. Despite the lecture being dry, the materials for this course seemed to have many practical applications. Each case (5 of them) provided multiple issues that you have to solve based on a one-page bullet point executive summary, which was fun for me. The 10-page final paper might seem like a lot at first. Still, it is actually bearable because you have a few final paper check-ins throughout the semester, and two cases actually help structure some of your final paper. Lastly, George's grading is fair, and as long as you back your statements with the course materials, you will be fine. Overall, I would retake this class in a heartbeat.
Course Breakdown: 5 cases-35%, Final Paper- 27% (usually 20%), Final Paper Prep- 6%, 4 Blog Posts- 12%, Attendence/ Participation- 20%

Professor Sampson is a dope professor, and you can legit apply the things you learn in the class outside, in real life. The class isn't that stringent, but it requires you to work on some case studies, submit a couple reports, and do a final in which you apply everything you've learned to a CIO on Grounds (or you can make one up and do a hypothetical). Everyone, no matter the major, can gain valuable knowledge from this course, and it isn't harshly graded.

George is a great person, super nice and interesting! Although his lectures were pretty boring, the guest speakers that he brings in are all unique AND you get 7 skips throughout the semester. You never have to do the readings since you aren't tested on them, but they are interesting and help you understand how non-profits are run (great if you're a leader of a CIO). Your grade is based on mostly writing, but they're pretty easy case papers or opinion papers (written in bullet points). The final paper is about a CIO (existing or you make it up), and as long as you start early and do thorough research, it's very easy. This class is overall a great grade booster and worth the trek to A-school!

George is the best! He is by far my favorite professor. He wants to learn everyone's names, major, passions, etc. and if he can network or anything like that to help you he will. George doesn't like exams because he doesn't like his students being stressed and wants the classroom to be an interactive area with no wrong answers (to an extent). Even if you don't care about art- take this class!!

George is a great man. His lectures can be very boring and you have to show up to class because attendance is taken on a very irregular basis. However, George is extremely understanding if you have a circumstance that you cannot show up to class for. George really cares about each students and wants each one to succeed. The class is really easy (approximately one page bullet point paper per week) and the grades range from a 92-95 on average. I would really recommend this class just because George is awesome!

If you do the work this course is an easy A. The only problem is that lecture feels like 2 hours because you're never tested on the material that is taught. Grade is based on around 8 response papers/cases and a final that is barely explained but pretty easy. Professor Sampson is such a nice guy but I wouldn't recommend the class unless you actually wanted to go into art administration

My favorite teacher! Such a fun class and a sweet man

This class is obviously a breeze, but it is actually cool information. You work on case studies about different museums, galleries and art dealers. If you are interested in the business of art this is the class for you.

EASY A. Just write your essays with thought. There is no right or wrong answer for George. He appreciates everyone's creativity.
