Very light class. Exams easy, no homework assignments. The lectures are pretty boring, but the topics are interesting if you like ecology. There is an attendance component which is measured by in class quizzes (enter the word on the screen into canvas). Overall very easy A and less work than the 1 credit lab associated with it.

I would say this is a fair course in the EVSC department. It wasn't that interesting but it also wasn't uber difficult if you're just trying to fulfil a credit. Pace was a little bland, but he was accommodating and flexible. There was an in-class attendance quiz each day, 4 exams, and 4 completion assignments that made up your grade. Overall, pretty average class I'd say.

Professor Pace is great - he loves Ecology and is very knowledgeable. Study his lecture slides (which are posted online); he loves graphs and interpreting material. Expect to see lots of graphs on the tests. Overall it wasn't a difficult class, but definitely worthwhile.

If you go to class, you don't need to read/buy the book (it was only helpful for clarifying a few things) but it is really easy to get distracted. I'd recommend printing the lecture slides and not using your computer. The tests were straightforward but the last two were harder than the first two - the subject matter was somewhat more complicated and less interesting in my opinion. Professor Pace was always available to answer questions, and the review sheets made studying a lot simpler.

Professor Pace's lectures are pretty boring, but make sure you go because sometimes he will give small pop quizzes where he gives you the answers and uses them as extra credit on the 4 exams (no final). Tests are not too hard too as long as you don't wait until the night before to study and they got harder as the semester progressed..overall i enjoyed this class however I highly recommend (Biol 345) Biodiversity and conservation with Professor Galloway which is very similar and more interesting
