There is a lot of reading involved for this class - however, readings are very interesting for the most part. Class discussion is pretty boring, and the discussion grade stems completely from 'chat room' posts on Collab so there is absolutely zero incentive to participate. There are three papers (1,000 words each) which are graded fairly. Professor Flake started giving pop quizzes on readings towards the end of the semester, which made a lot of students very angry. That being said, it's hard not to do well in this class.
