One of the best math classes I've taken. I did not think I would like linear algebra, but Prof. Holt made it a more bearable and enjoyable class. This class is an applied version so there are no proofs, and it is more like an APMA class. It is organized well, and everything is relatively straightforward.
This class had three midterms and the final is an opportunity to retake one of the midterms. There are weekly homework problem sets (pretty much graded for completion) and R quizzes (which aren't hard, you basically copy code from the demo videos). He also assigns suggested practice questions which are good exam prep. The exams had no trick questions, and all questions were based on material covered in class. The only challenging type of question were the true and false ones. For that I recommend doing the ones from the assigned homework ones.

TL/DR: the professor and class is great, 10/10 would recommend.
The class is broken down to two midterms and a final that constitute the majority of your grade, R-Quizzes that constitute 10%, and then homeworks. The finals are difficult but fair, as Prof. Holt gives LOTS of resources (notes, previous exams, and videos) for them. Furthermore, you won't be shocked by the exams, but simultaneously you should study. Homeworks are completion based, as you do the "odd" problems (with solutions in the back of the book) and its more focused on your learning than accuracy. Finally, R-Quizzes are posted online and give you a quick look-through of using R for basic statistics, and are fair if you use the resources he provides.
Lectures are exactly what you'd expect - taking notes from the professor. He puts in some humor every so often, but usually its straightforward and easy material that, if you put in the work to study and practice, you will succeed and understand.
Weekly HW questions from the textbook that are graded for credit. About 6 R Quizzes which are 2 questions in R Studio - don't really need to be good at R; he provides videos with sample code. 3 Midterm Exams and the final exam is optional and replaces one of the midterms. He also provides sample practice exams from previous years which are really helpful for the midterms. Really doable course. #tCFF23
This class is a very standard math class, with notes written on a chalk board and homework once a week to practice what we've learned. There is a textbook where the homework problems come from, but it is written by Professor Holt so it is actually pretty helpful because it looks almost identical to his notes just with more examples. The textbook has answers in the back so the homework is just graded for completeness so it is easy to get 100% on all the homework but they do take 2-3 hours each. There are 3 non-cumulative exams and a final, and the final can be used to drop you lowest exam grade if you do better than that exam. I took linear algebra in high school and I definitely think my background in the subject was helpful, but I also think the class is really doable. Practice exams from previous iterations of the class are provided and are very helpful when studying. I think Holt does a good job of explaining concepts and he is happy to answer questions during lecture when you don't understand something he explained.
