To me, this is one of the most fun music classes at UVA. And I didn't go in knowing anything about bluegrass. No, it doesn't take much effort to get an A if you can squeak out a chord once in a while, but the class becomes what you make of it. If you wanna get good and sound good you can. If you want the easy A you can get that too. But it's so much more rewarding when you and everyone else LOCK IN. By the end, I had the motivation to play guitar and have fun and I learned a whole new genre of music. I felt comfortable playing with other people and wanted to continue even after the class ended. Professor Will is such a great teacher and you can tell how much he loves the genre. The man will show up early and sit down and jam with you on whatever you'd like to work on! I'd recommend it to anyone who has even the slightest interest in bluegrass or making fun, good-sounding music. And then I'd recommend you take Bluegrass Band, and then I recommend you continue to take Bluegrass band.
