Brian Richter is the coolest professor I've had yet at UVA! I got an A-, but if I had studied more could have definitely gotten an A. Theres a new lecturer almost every week followed by discussion for about an hour. Homework and readings were super manageable despite only meeting once a week.

This is a great class. Professor Richter is part of the board for the Nature Conservancy and is really knowledgable about water and other similar topics. In addition, there are guest speakers for a number of the lectures that really help provide more perspectives of the sustainability of water. There's weekly reading, a few homework assignments, a midterm, and a 20 page research paper. But it's honestly not too much work, he's not an exceptionally difficult grader, and the subject matter as a whole is really interesting. I would definitely recommend this class, it's one of my favorites at UVa.
