Alexa is clearly passionate about poetry and tries her best to share this passion with her students. The only criticism I have for her teaching style is that the discussions can be boring sometimes. There's only so much to discuss about a poem before the boredom begins to set in.

Otherwise, it's not a difficult class. You just need to participate in class, do each assignment, and put in the effort to do your work well.

I recommend this class if you enjoy creative writing and are curious about poetry. I genuinely enjoyed it but for someone who isn't as interested in writing, it might not be as fun. The workload is very manageable. We get readings of 4 poems for each class and when they are workshop rounds we just have to read the poems of other people in the class. They are also a few times where we need to write critical response to poems we find. The main two projects are a final portfolio of work written during the semester and an essay about a poetry collection that is around 5 pages long. To continue, Alexa is a great professor that is clearly very passionate about poetry and listens to her students. The class is very enjoyable and easy to do well in. All you have to do is hand in your work on time, participate and put effort in the two main projects.
