Mixed feelings about this class. It could be good, but it mainly took the fun out of art. Very, very structured and doesn't allow for creativity. "Art" is defined by the professor's standards. The professor is pretty anal and particular about what she wants. She makes you feel like you're always walking on eggshells. It's hard to please her or to know what she wants. Instructions are very vague. Definitely NOT an easy A class. You really have to put in the work if you want to do well- and by that, I mean hours and hours of drawing each week.
Although the professor was a nice person, she was usually quite vague about what she wanted and I would sometimes hear her dole out unnecessarily harsh criticism to other students in the class. This class is DEFINITELY NOT an easy A and requires a lot of out-of-class drawing if you want to do well. The requirement is 5-6 hours per week drawing out of class. Before midterm portfolios, I spent 10 hours over one weekend drawing. Paired with 5 hours of in-class drawing per week (For only 3 credits!!!), it was very very easy for me to get burnt out. Don't take unless you're willing to put in the time/effort.
