This was a great ENWR class and I strongly recommend it to all. Even though I wasn't particularly excited about the topic, which was "Plato's Dialogues" Professor Sutherland was an incredible teach who was always willing to help and explain things. She was very passionate about the subject which made the classes interesting. For the semester we had a lot of readings but it was very manageable and only 3 essays. Put time into writing essays if you want to get an A. And also read the readings at least a part of them because participation grade is 30% so it's important to participate and know the readings because the essays are also mostly based on the readings/or at least they will help with the essays. Overall, great class especially the professor!
This ENWR was a breeze, but I ended up with a B+ despite heavy participation, and As and Bs on the few assigned papers. She is an incredibly nice professor, and it was a very relaxed class. However, the subject matter (the bestiary) was not quite as interesting as I thought it would be. I probably wouldn't recommend this course- it had much less writing than other ENWRs, but it seemed like it should've been an easy A. I don't feel like this course made me a better writer, and as I mentioned, this course was very light on actual writing assignments (most of the time homework was readings for the next class).
