This is a good class if you are looking to improve your writing and don't have to be in class as much and can watch movies for homework. It is based on film adaptation when I had her (Thakur). Compared to other Professors, Thakur grades kind of harder because she wants to help you improve your writing. If you want a section where you get easy grading for an OK essay this isn't the one for you. If you, however, want a class where you strive to write a good essay and get a good grade, then this is the class for you. Just don't be lazy and submit an unedited essay and expect a good grade. She kind of follows her own path so she doesn't give that many weekly writings at all while other professors give one each week. You do have to read one book and a quarter of one book and like a fifth of another, so not much reading except for one whole book. It gets annoying because I know us first years have trouble reading assigned things. You do write 3 essays and read articles for each adaptation you are doing that class. One interesting note, we always cancel class once or every other week because she does have an illness, so that may be expected. Overall she is a very intellectual teacher who knows what she is talking about and will help you with your writing- the class is not that bad. Its better to go to office hours because she doesn't respond sometimes in emails.
