Downright criminal that no one has rated Mrs. Kiser yet.
She's done a great job this semester with listening to her students and putting us first. Honestly, I think she's a really great choice for ENWR. Her comments on papers are always helpful and she's not cruel when she grades. Ultimately, I would recommend her to any student who has to take ENWR. You won't have any horror stories like your friends who took it with other professors will, but you'll also learn more and you'll have a better grade.
ENWRs are never really fun for anyone due to the nature of the course, but Kiser took it to a new level. The paper structure that she forces you to use is laughably terrible. Not only does it not make sense, it's not used by ANYONE else and makes for a weaker argument. If you don't use her problem statement and conclusion structures she marks you down for it, despite the fact that they are very confusing and ultimately useless (even harmful) concepts to follow in writing a paper. I feel like my writing skills actually suffered in this class. If possible, avoid at all costs. This class was a mistake. Literally everything we do is a waste of time. We don't even do that much writing--so the weekly average is off. She's constantly changing the schedule of the course, so it could be different for following years--hell, she even changed the schedule of the course during the semester! She told us on a Friday that on Monday she wanted either a detailed outline or rough draft of a four page essay in the middle of midterm season, with complete and total disregard for our other classes. You write three essays total, and the midterm and final portfolio involves revising those three essays. If you're stuck in this class, good luck. Use your three skips wisely.
