Going to be honest, this class was definitely a lot of work compared to some other ENWRs - tons of reading sometimes, 3 papers and a podcast + revisions and weekly ~300 word responses. But that said, Ard is a really solid English teacher - the assignments took effort and thought but I feel like it actually helped my writing ability. If you're a good writer and don't mind putting in the time, this isn't your worst option. Definitely not an easy A though.

I second the other review on this page. DeVan (his first name, which he goes by) is a fantastic teacher, especially for someone teaching his first class. The readings are comprehensible for the most part (there was one notable exception) and he can always explain something you don't understand about them. The workload isn't that bad, usually a couple of hours of reading a week, a few short written responses to those readings and three longer writing projects. However, he is very open-minded about where you take an assignment making them very fun to write. He dramatically improved at leading discussions and is also very kind and accessible. If you can take an ENWR or another class with DeVan do it, I can only see this guy getting better as I was thoroughly impressed by his performance in the first class he ever taught.
