Great class! You write 3 papers during the semester. For each one, you do a rough draft and then have peer editing. Then you turn in a "final" draft but you basically only get a participation grade on it for turning it in. He gives tons of feedback on each paper and then at the end of the semester you edit your papers and turn them in as a portfolio. So basically your writing only has to be good at the end of the semester. The readings for each class can be a little dry but you discuss them in class and the discussions are interesting. Pretty easy to get an A also long as you try on the portfolio.

If I were to write every positive thing I could say about Prof. Townley, it would take up an entire word document. By far the best english professor I have ever had. He is very understanding and considerate of different writing styles and levels. A very fair grader as well. I was excited to go to every class because discussions were interesting and fun. There were three main essays due throughout the semester. The only thing that frustrated me about Prof. Townley is that he didn't give a lot of feedback on essay drafts. if you have the opportunity, I would really recommend taking one of his classes!!

Townley is really helpful and approachable, and it was an interesting topic (Social Class in America). All of the readings were interesting and I didn't feel like he gave us work just for the sake of it, like some of my friends in other ENWR's. He is a fair grader, and the essay revision process is really helpful (Two peer editing sessions per essay, then he gives us feedback so we can revise for a final portfolio). I would definitely recommend taking Townley's class.
