My topic was Sports Arguments, which I thought I would enjoy because I like sports, but I didn't at all because arguing sports in an academic setting was harder than I thought it would be. Lawson was also a tough grader, but he provided a lot of extra help through office hours and allowed you to rewrite the papers as many times as you wanted. Therefore, your grade in the class really depends on how much work you put into the essays/assignments. Regarding the course as a whole, I don't think my writing improved, but that's just me.

Very disorganized. Not too clear what he expects from students. One positive is that you can write your essays as many times as you want which allows you to get the grade you want.
I think the main criteria when choosing these ENWR classes is to find a topic that is interesting to you. Mine was Sports Arguments, so I am already biased towards this class. Mr. Lawson is a nice guy who brings in a variety of outside articles and sources to add to the overall class. He does grade very harshly on your essays, however. That being said, you are able to rewrite all of your essays as many times as you want before the end of the semester to improve your grade. If you see him outside of class for essay help and participate in class you are golden. Also, if you care about something other than your grade and actually listen to the advice he gives, you WILL become a better writer.
Lawson is awesome! If you like sports take this class because each class consists of discussing current sports topics. If you go see him for help and turn your papers in multiple times, he'll help you out a lot and will make this a very easy class. I loved it!
not too bad an enwr class, very enjoyable. theme was "america in the 21st century"...pretty easy. lawson can be a tough grader, though.
