Professor Turkheimer is one of the few professors I've had at the University that I could see myself having a beer with. I don't have enough good things to say about the guy - just a legitimately nice guy. I would say take the class just for Turkheimer, but anyways on to the actual course. Discussions can kind of drag if no one does the readings or speaks up, but this can often be because some of the readings assigned are very dense. He doesn't expect you to understand it through and through though. The material is pretty interesting though for its philosophical implications on how we examine not just mental disorders, but human nature in general. Just do the readings and you'll be gold.

Overall, a very straight forward class. There is a ton of reading and writing, but there are no exams or midterms. If you do the reading and show up of to class, you will do well in the class. Turkheimer is a cool guy too.
